Disabling Yomitan per-site

Yomitan is a browser extension that lets you hover over words, press a key, and get a definition from a dictionary. For language learners, it’s a godsend.

However, sometimes you want to avoid the modifier key, usually Shift.

To that end…

  1. Open the Yomitan Settings.

  2. Click on Profiles → Configure profiles…

  3. Click on Add to create a new profile. Give it a descriptive name, like “Blocklist”.

  4. Close the dialog.

  5. Click on the dropdown list next to “Active profile” to switch to the “Blocklist” profile.

  6. Disable Yomitan by toggling the setting General → Enable Yomitan.

  7. Switch the Active profile to the “Default” profile again.

  8. Click on Configure profiles… → Hamburger menu (the three dots) → Edit conditions… → Add group → Add →

    “if URL Matches Domain $DESIRED_WEBSITE_TO_DISABLE

That’s it. As easy as that.

Appears to be revolved. It may not be obvious how to create a blacklist but here is how to do it:

  1. Create a new profile
  2. Turn off Yomitan on this profile
  3. Add a url match condition

This will make it so whenever the url condition is matched, Yomitan turns off.

Version

26.3.30.0 (9 April 2026).
